What degree must a member hold to have a chapter office?

To hold a chapter office in the FFA, a member must possess the Chapter Degree. This degree signifies that the member has advanced beyond the entry-level Greenhand Degree, demonstrating not only participation but also a commitment to the goals and practices of the organization. Achieving the Chapter Degree usually requires members to have a certain level of involvement in FFA activities, completion of a supervised agricultural experience (SAE), and a basic understanding of leadership principles.

The other degrees, such as the Greenhand Degree, indicate a newcomer status and do not meet the criteria for holding an office, while the State and American Degrees are higher accolades awarded for significant achievement and leadership beyond the chapter level. The State Degree recognizes experienced members at the state level, and the American Degree is the highest honor awarded by the FFA, requiring a strong track record of academic achievements and contributions to the field of agriculture.
